Returns & Refunds Policy
Chicane Racewear
Overview
At Chicane Racewear, we want you to be confident in your purchase. Please choose carefully, as
under New Zealand consumer law we are not required to provide a refund if you simply change
your mind. This policy explains your options for returns, exchanges, and refunds.
1. Faulty, damaged, or incorrect items
Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, you are entitled to a remedy if your item:
• Arrives damaged or defective
• Is not as described
• Is not fit for purpose
• Is unsafe
Contact us within 7 days of delivery at sales@chicane.co.nz with your order number and photos of
the issue. We will arrange a replacement, repair, or refund at no cost to you. Chicane Racewear
will cover return shipping in these cases.
2. Change of mind
We do not offer refunds for change of mind, including if you have ordered the wrong size,
colour, or product. This is in line with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, which does not require
refunds for change of mind.
At our discretion, we may offer an exchange or store credit for change-of-mind returns on regular
stock items within 30 days of delivery, provided the item:
• Is unused, unworn, and in original condition
• Is in original packaging with all tags attached
• Is accompanied by proof of purchase (order number or receipt)
The customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
3. Custom, made-to-order, and order-only items
The following items are made or ordered specifically for you and are not eligible for change-of-mind
returns, exchanges, or store credit:
• Custom-made race suits (made to your measurements)
• Custom embroidered, printed, or personalised items
• Order-only items not held in regular stock
If an order-only item is accepted for return at our discretion, a 5% restocking fee applies and the
customer is responsible for return freight. This does not apply to items returned under the
Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose), which are covered
at our cost.
4. Items that cannot be returned
For hygiene and safety reasons, the following items cannot be returned under any circumstances
unless faulty under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993:
• Safety equipment that has been used, worn on track, or had safety seals or tags removed
• Underwear and base layers
• Sale and clearance items
• Suit hire items
5. How to start a return
Email us at sales@chicane.co.nz with:
• Your order number
• Reason for return
• Photos (if the item is faulty or damaged)
Once your return is approved, we will provide instructions and confirm the return address.

7. Return shipping costs
• Faulty, damaged, or incorrect items: Chicane Racewear covers return shipping
• Change-of-mind exchanges or store credit: Customer pays return shipping
• Order-only items (accepted by exception): Customer pays return shipping plus a 5%
restocking fee
We recommend using a tracked shipping service, as we cannot guarantee receipt of returned
items.
8. Processing time
Once your return arrives at our warehouse, we will inspect it and notify you of approval or rejection
within 3 working days.
• Refunds (for items returned under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993) are processed to
your original payment method within 7 working days of approval
• Exchanges are dispatched once the returned item is received and inspected
• Store credit is issued by email within 3 working days of approval
Depending on your bank or card issuer, refunds may take an additional 3–10 business days to
appear on your statement.
9. Your consumer rights
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair
Trading Act 1986. Under the CGA, you are entitled to a remedy if an item is faulty, not as
described, not fit for purpose, or unsafe — and Chicane Racewear honours these rights in full.
